VCU Critical Care Hospital Topping Out
The final steel beam will be added to the top section of the Critical Care Hospital now under construction at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center on Tuesday, March 13.
A "Topping Out" celebration will take place at 12:20 p.m. on the top level of the D-Deck parking garage on 13th Street, just to the east of the CriticalCareHospital construction site.
Brief remarks will be followed by an opportunity for those in attendance to inscribe a message and sign their name on the final beam. The beam then will be hoisted to the top level of the new hospital and secured into place.
The event marks the completion of the structural frame of the 15-story, 368,000 square-foot hospital. This is an important milestone in the construction of the state-of-the-art facility that will expand the VCU Medical Center's critical care capacity with new intensive care units for surgical trauma, neonatal, cardiac, neuroscience, medical respiratory and burn center patients.
News Media showing credentials will be able to park on the top level of the D-Deck parking garage.
