VCU faculty member selected as international distinguished educator

Apple, maker of the MacIntosh computer and the popular iPod portable music players, has selected a Virginia Commonwealth University faculty member as one of its 2005 distinguished educators.
Tarynn M. Witten, Ph.D., MSW, an associate professor and director of research and development at the Center for the Study of Biological Complexity at VCU, has been awarded a 2005 Apple Distinguished Educator award for her use of technology in the biological and biomedical sciences.
The Apple Distinguished Educator program honors education professionals committed to the promise of educational technology. The program selects exemplary educators worldwide to exchange ideas and information about the effective uses of new technologies in the learning environment.
Witten joins 62 other members in the Class of 2005 Apple Distinguished Educators. The program began in 1994 and now consists of 500 educators worldwide.
