WHAT: In recent weeks, several cases of violence in the Richmond area have involved school-aged children. A group of Virginia Commonwealth University faculty is teaming with local education and public safety officials to spend a day discussing student behavior and focusing on ways to encourage more civil behavior in school.
Organizers hope to pinpoint the reasons for the increased violence affecting area youth and identify potential solutions.
Bullying and aggressive teasing in school and ways students, teachers, principals and parents deal with these behaviors, will be among the most important topics discussed during the three-hour forum.
