VCU Health symposium will examine trauma care challenges for pediatric and geriatric patients

Speakers from around the country will discuss special trauma care needed for pediatric and geriatric patients at the 17th annual Rao R. Ivatury Trauma Symposium, hosted by the VCU Health Center for Trauma and Critical Care Education and the Division of Acute Care Surgical Services in the VCU School of Medicine.
The event will take place on March 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Richmond Marriot, 500 E. Broad St. Participation registration is required and can be done in advance online at www.ctcce.vcu.edu/ivaturysymposium or at the door.
Keynote speakers include Zara Cooper, M.D., from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, who will present on “Post-Operative Delirium,” and Aurelio Rodriquez, M.D., Geriatric Trauma Institute, who will speak about the “Burden of Senior Trauma Care.” Other topics include “PTSD in the Injured Child,” “Non-Accidental Trauma: Medical and Judicial Aspects – Prevention Efforts” and several case studies from VCU Health experts.
On-site and valet parking is available. Self-parking can be found in area garages including one attached to the hotel lobby at 5th and Marshall Streets.
