VCU Hosts Richmond Premiere of 'Service: When Women Come Marching Home'

Virginia Commonwealth University will host the Richmond premiere of the film "Service: When Women Come Marching Home," a documentary and discussion on female service members' heroic efforts.
The free screening takes place on Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Commons Theater, followed by a question-and-answer session with filmmaker Patricia Lee Stotter and retired veteran Cpl. Sue Downes, who is featured in the film.
"Service" depicts the special challenges disabled women veterans face when they return to civilian life. The movie highlights their return and the physical and mental injuries they face from their time overseas. The film is touring various universities across the country, accompanied by producers and veterans who can discuss the film. The project highlights the challenges female soldiers have confronted, including fighting frontline in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
