VCU Institute for Women’s Health to Hold 4th Annual Women’s Health Research Day

The Virginia Commonwealth University Institute for Women's Health will hold the 4th Annual Women's Health Research Day, a networking opportunity celebrating and promoting excellence in interdisciplinary women's health research.
The event will take place Wednesday, April 16, from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Room 104/105 and Auditorium, 1217 E. Marshall St.
All VCU faculty, students, staff or community members with an interest in women's health research are welcome and encouraged to attend for any portion of the day.
This year's keynote speaker will be Kathleen T. Brady, M.D., Ph.D., professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. Brady will present "Knocking Down Silos: Fostering Women's Health & Gender-Based Research."
A panel of VCU women's health research experts will discuss translational research in women's health and how to integrate basic and clinical research with patient care. Attendees will have an opportunity to view women's health research posters and a reception will follow the presentation of the Elizabeth Fries Young Investigator Award.
The VCU Institute for Women's Health is one of 21 National Centers of Excellence in Women's Health designated by the Office on Women's Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The National Centers of Excellence serve as demonstration models for the nation providing innovative, multidisciplinary and integrated health care systems for women.
