Virginia Commonwealth University, together with George Mason University, recently joined the Virginia Sea Grant community as partner institutions - joining a network of research experts in coastal and marine science, extension, education and communications.
Through Virginia Sea Grant, a commonwealth-wide organization, institutions are able to share strengths and resources. VCU has the largest coastal research and education facility along the James River. The Platinum LEED-certified Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences advances scientific knowledge in large river ecosystems and restoration. Read the news release here.
“Joining the partnership is exciting because it will provide increased power that inter-institutional collaboratives bring to the research enterprise and to student scholarship,” said Thomas Huff, Ph.D., vice provost for Life Sciences.
Other partner institutions include Virginia Institute of Marine Science at the College of William & Mary, Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, and University of Virginia.
