VCU Launches Sustainable Academics Lecture Series

Acclaimed author Jeremy Rifkin will deliver the inaugural lecture in a new Sustainable Academics lecture series developed by the VCU Office of Sustainability.
Rifkin, an international economics adviser and senior lecturer at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, will present topics from his latest book, "The Third Industrial Revolution: How Lateral Power is Changing Energy, the Economy, and the World." The lecture takes place Thursday, Feb.23, at 7 p.m. in the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building auditorium, 1217 E. Marshall St., followed by a question-and-answer session with Rifkin and a panel of sustainability, economics and health specialists.
Rifkin is president of the Foundation on Economic Trends and the best-selling author of 19 books on the impact of scientific and technological changes on the economy, the workforce, society and the environment. He is founder and chair of the Third Industrial Revolution Global CEO Business Roundtable.
The lecture is co-sponsored by VCU Life Sciences, the College of Humanities and Sciences and the VCU schools of Business and Allied Health Professions.
