The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center’s Life Evac program, part of Life Evac Air Medical, has received full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems, or CAMTS.

Life Evac becomes one of 115 accredited services in the United States out of approximately 260 aero-medical programs. The accreditation is valid for three years.

The accreditation process takes up to two years to complete. Each program must show current and historical compliance over a minimum of one year in areas like clinical/patient care standards, aviation, safety, education, leadership and sound financial support.
CAMTS is a nonprofit organization that has set the industry standard for safety and patient care since 1991.

In addition to the VCU Life Evac program, Life Evac Air Medical operates Life Evac at Mary Washington Hospital through Medicorp Health System.
