VCU Medical Center Presents October Lectures in Fall Seminar Series

The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center continues its free educational seminar series featuring experts who will provide important health information and answer questions on a variety of current topics in health care.
The lectures will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Education and Library Complex, 1800 Lakeside Ave. The seminars are free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more information, or to register, call 804-828-0123.
The following seminars will take place in October:
Oct. 4 – “Women’s Health: A Panel of Experts” presented by Diane Biskobing, M.D., Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, VCU School of Medicine; Gilda Cardeñosa, M.D., director of Breast Imaging at the VCU Medical Center; and Bethany Denlinger, M.D., VCU Pauley Heart Center. This panel of experts will discuss women’s health, including bone density, breast imaging and heart health.
Oct. 12 – “How to Reduce Your Chance of Getting Cancer,” presented by Mary Helen Hackney, M.D., VCU Massey Cancer Center. Hackney will discuss how to reduce the risk of cancer and the importance of early detection.
Oct. 19 – “Mohs Micrographic Surgery,” presented by Algin Garrett, M.D., and Ian Maher, M.D., VCU School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology. Garrett and Maher will discuss the treatment of malignant skin lesions with one of the most advanced procedures available for treating skin cancer.
