VCU occupational therapy chair honored by Pediatric Therapy Network

Shelly Lane, Ph.D., director and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Allied Health Professions, received the Bridges to the Ivory Tower award from the Pediatric Therapy Network at the national R2K, Research 2000, conference in Long Beach, Calif.
The Bridges award is presented annually to one or more researchers who have made significant contributions to pediatric practice.
Lane was recognized in February for her contribution to the field of pediatric occupational therapy and her research in the area of sensory integration. Lane co-authored the “Sensory Integration: A consensus towards uniform terminology” trilogy and is the editor and contributing author to the second edition of “Sensory Integration: Theory and Practice.”
In addition to receiving the award, Lane was one of eight distinguished speakers.
R2K is an annual conference designed to build bridges between research and practice.
