Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Education presents the “Teaching Literacy in a Digital World” conference, offering current research and instructional strategies related to technology in PK-12, college and adult education settings.

The conference takes place Saturday, March 14, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with registration between noon and 2 p.m. at the VCU Academic Learning Commons, 1000 Floyd Ave. The cost to register is $75, or $40 for students, and includes conference sessions and materials, parking, refreshments and dinner.

During this half-day conference, a general session, combined with concurrent poster sessions covering a variety of topics, will include speakers such as Denise Johnson, Ed.D., of the College of William & Mary, and Gardner Campbell, Ph.D., and Jonathan Becker, J.D., Ph.D., of VCU. Presentations will focus on three strands: Reading and Writing in Digital Environments, Digital Literacy in an “Open” World, and Social Media and Literacy Education. The conference will culminate with a dinner featuring noted literacy researcher and speaker Julie Coiro, Ph.D., of the University of Rhode Island.
