VCU School of Pharmacy Gains Reaccreditation

Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Pharmacy has gained reaccreditation and remains the only pharmacy program in Virginia with a six-year accreditation, the maximum amount of time granted between accreditation visits.
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) affirmed the School of Pharmacy’s accreditation this month, based on a fall 2009 site visit. A pharmacist must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy in order to be eligible for licensure by the state board of pharmacy.
"I am very pleased that we met all 30 accreditation standards and were given a full six-year accreditation," said VCU School of Pharmacy Dean Victor Yanchick. "My hat's off to the faculty, staff and students who made this happen."
VCU School of Pharmacy has been continuously accredited since the ACPE began accrediting pharmacy schools in the 1930s. The School of Pharmacy’s next accreditation visit is scheduled for the 2014-2015 academic year.
