RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 11, 2004) – Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts has appointed Jacquelin W. Crebbs as the new associate dean for development.

In her new position, Crebbs is responsible for overall strategic planning, direction and management of the VCU School of the Arts fund-raising and public relations programs, including the arts components of the current $330 million Campaign for VCU.

“The world's greatest artists, teachers and critics now come to VCU on a regular basis,” said Crebbs. “Our goal is to continue to expand programs at this very high level, ensure their financial viability for future generations of students and secure the national and international recognition that these strong programs merit.”

Crebbs has been an advancement professional and non-profit administrator for more than 25 years. Before coming to VCU, she served as director of advancement for the Norton Museum of Art -- the largest art museum in Florida. Her management experience includes work in both the private and public sectors and includes university, independent school and museum appointments. She also has directed programs at Chatham Hall, Monticello, the Chrysler Museum of Art and The College of William and Mary.

Crebbs received her Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees from The College of William and Mary. She also did post-graduate study in applied piano at VCU.

“She will be a real asset to the School of the Arts as we begin the next phase of building national support from the private sector,” said Richard Toscan, Ph.D., dean of VCU’s School of the Arts.

One of the nation's largest arts and design schools, VCU’s School of the Arts has been ranked the top public university arts program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
