VCU Tech Transfer to Host 7th Annual Invented at VCU Reception

Virginia Commonwealth University Tech Transfer will celebrate the university’s researchers, inventors and innovators during its 7th annual “Invented at VCU” reception.

The event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Atrium of the Virginia Bio Technology Research Park, 800 East Leigh St.

During the reception, the VCU Inventor of the Year will be announced and recognized for creating a project on the market that has made an impact by improving the quality of life and filling an unmet market need.

The mission of VCU Tech Transfer is to foster a culture of innovation at the university and to protect and commercialize inventions created by the VCU research enterprise for the benefit of society. Tech Transfer is also helping build vital partnerships between VCU innovators and the business community.

Remarks, which will begin at 5 p.m., will be made by Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU; Francis Macrina, Ph.D., vice president for Research; Ivelina Metcheva, Ph.D., executive director of VCU Tech Transfer, Enterprise and Economic Development; and the inventor of the year.
