VCU to Hold 48th Annual Child Psychiatry Spring Forum

Virginia Commonwealth University will hold the 48th annual Child Psychiatry Spring Forum for parents of young people with mental health challenges and the professionals who work with them.

The event will be held Friday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the VCU Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Maryann Davis, Ph.D., will deliver the keynote address, “Growing up, Moving Up: Mental Health Services for Transition Age Youth.” Davis is a nationally recognized expert on service for youth with significant mental health needs during the transition into adulthood. She recently worked with members of Congress to develop legislation to better address the needs of this population.

The forum also will include a panel discussion on “Service Issues for Virginia” and breakout sessions in the afternoon.

The VCU Department of Psychiatry, the Virginia Treatment Center for Children, the Commonwealth Institute for Child and Family Studies and Children’s Hospital are co-sponsoring this event.
