VCU To Host 14th Annual William E. and Miriam S. Blake Lecture in the History Of Christianity

Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of History will present "God's Empire: The English Reformation and the Invention of Great Britain,"as part of the 14th Annual William E. and Miriam S. Blake Lecture in the History of Christianity.
The lecture will be presented by Dale Hoak, Ph.D., Chancellor Professor of History at the College of William and Mary, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (U.K.), and an Associate Fellow of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge.
The lecture will take place Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the VCUStudent Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom, 907 Floyd Ave. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
Hoak is a specialist in the history of Tudor England and published "The King's Council in the Reign of Edward VI" (Cambridge University Press, 1976) and has edited and contributed to volumes on "Tudor Political Culture" (Cambridge University Press, 1995) and "The World of William and Mary: Anglo-Dutch Perspectives on the Revolution of 1688-89" (Stanford University Press, 1996). His book on the reign of Henry VIII will be published next year by Palgrave/Macmillan.
The William E. and Miriam S. Blake Lecture in the History of Christianity is presented annually by a renowned scholar. The lecture is supported by an endowed fund established by the Blakes, their family, friends, colleagues and those who enjoyed the History of Christianity course, which Blake initiated and continues to teach.
