A Virginia Commonwealth University art gallery has received a national publications design award from the American Association of Museums.

The Anderson Gallery, part of VCU’s School of the Arts, received an Honorable Mention in the exhibition catalogue category for the Heide Fasnacht: Strange Attractors catalogue. The catalogue was designed in collaboration with VCU’s Sandy Wheeler, M.F.A., assistant professor of arts communication design.

Museums from across the United States and around the world submitted more than 900 entries for the 25th annual AAM Publications Design Competition. Some 130 finalists were chosen and divided into two categories, institutions with a budget that is less than $500,000 and institutions with a budget that exceeds $500,000. Within the two budget sections, entries competed in 16 categories, including books, educational resources, newsletters, fund-raising materials, scholarly journals and CD-ROMs. VCU’s honorable mention was in the first category.
