VCU’s Massey Cancer Center to sponsor education forum on breast cancer

The forum will offer a comprehensive overview of breast cancer. Physicians and nurses will present information on breast cancer diagnosis, the types and stages of the disease, treatment options and the genetics of breast cancer. Advances in treatment, clinical trials and the importance of a patient’s health team also will be addressed.
An informational health fair will be presented in conjunction with the forum. Health fair participants include: the Linen-Powell Library at the Massey Cancer Center; the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Information Service; the American Cancer Society; the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation; and Southside Regional Medical Center. The Petersburg Health Department also will be available to provide information on health care resources available in the community.
