Virginia Commonwealth University’s National Society of Collegiate Scholars chapter was awarded Bronze STAR status in recognition of the success of its program and its community service, member engagement and on-campus involvement.
Founded in 2000, the VCU NSCS chapter is an honors organization for high achieving freshman and sophomore students.
The requirements needed to attain bronze status include holding an induction ceremony for new members, creating an on-campus membership recruitment campaign and having at least one officer attend an NSCS’ leadership training summit.
NSCS chapters can attain one of four status levels including bronze, silver, gold and platinum.
NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.
NSCS offers members access to scholarships, career resources, leadership and networking opportunities. The organization has more then 240 student-run chapters at universities across the country. For more information, visit http://www.nscs.org/about-nscs.
