The Virginia Commonwealth University radiation sciences team recently participated in the 2009 American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Kanawha Plaza, raising more than $3,200 for breast cancer research. The event honors breast cancer survivors, raises awareness about the disease and helps save lives.

Led by Melanie Dempsey, assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Sciences in the School of Allied Health Professions, and radiation sciences student Jodi Dualan, the group was the largest registered team from both VCU and VCU Medical Center. The team was ranked in the top 10 this year thanks to the support of its 56 members.
