Robert Taylor, director of the Virginia Real Estate Center in the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business, has been awarded the Fellow designation from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Taylor has served in his post at VCU since 2001. He also is the chairman of the Appraisal Institute Education Trust, an international education foundation based in Chicago, and a course reviewer for the Appraisal Foundation in Washington, D.C. Taylor is a certified general real estate appraiser and a licensed real estate broker in the state.
Taylor teaches in VCU’s Real Estate Program, which is in the VCU School of Business. VCU offers the only bachelor’s degree in real estate in Virginia. Each year, the Virginia Real Estate Center and VCU’s Real Estate Circle of Excellence organize the VCU School of Business Real Estate Trends Conference, which attracts more than 800 real estate professionals and academics.
The designation of Fellow (FRICS) is a badge of achievement in RICS and the professionals who carry it are expected to show the highest level of accomplishment throughout their careers.
RICS stipulates that all of its members and Fellows adhere to a strict code of ethics and conduct in their work in the property and valuation fields. While members at all levels follow this code, the fellowship represents a prestigious RICS award that reflects the career achievements of a special group of property professionals. Fellows are leaders in their field who have completed unique projects and contributed to the profession.
Taylor joins a group of more than 700 individuals to achieve Fellowship status in the Americas region, which covers North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Fellows are selected for a combination of proven experience, professional development and significant contributions to RICS and the profession.
