Rabia Kamara to address VCU grads at December commencement

The fall universitywide commencement ceremony will be held on Dec. 10 at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

Rabia Kamara, winner of Ben & Jerry’s “Clash of the Cones” on the Food Network, will deliver Virginia Commonwealth University’s fall commencement address on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

Kamara, an alum of the VCU School of Business, is the chef and owner of Ruby Scoops, a Richmond-based purveyor of premium small batch ice creams, sorbets, sherbets and other desserts. In 2021, Kamara won the championship in Ben & Jerry’s “Clash of the Cones” on the Food Network, creating custom flavors for Kevin Bacon, Ludacris and Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Ben & Jerry’s founders, among others.

Kamara is a graduate of L’Academie de Cuisine and has been cooking professionally for more than a decade. She has been featured in many publications, appeared on local and national television, and is a member of Les Dames des Escoffier.
