Jeff Kidd has been named assistant vice president for Virginia Commonwealth University Capital Assets and Real Estate, effective May 1. In this role, Kidd will be responsible for developing the overall real estate strategy for VCU, the VCU Health System, and its affiliated foundations.
“Jeff brings to VCU a breadth of experience as a proven leader in university settings,” said Meredith Weiss, Ph.D., vice president for administration. “His background in real estate operations and capital management within complex institutions makes him uniquely qualified for this position, and his history of collaboration among diverse stakeholders will benefit VCU as we continue to build strong relationships with the community and the city.”
Kidd is currently executive director of The Citadel Real Estate Foundation, an affiliated entity of The Citadel, which undertakes a broad scope of real estate related endeavors including strategic planning for underutilized assets, long-term acquisition strategy, asset management and capital project structuring and delivery. Prior to The Citadel, Kidd served as a director and university property officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His responsibilities there included administrative oversight of the real estate operations office, commercial lease portfolio management, asset management, design and construction build-out for leased spaces and gift property management.
“I feel honored to be joining VCU, particularly at this time in the early stages of the ONE VCU Master Plan implementation. The Capital Assets and Real Estate team will play a vital role in support of this plan, which ultimately supports both the VCU and VCU Health System strategic priorities,” Kidd said. “My family and I are very excited to become part of the Richmond community.”
A licensed civil engineer and LEED-accredited professional, Kidd holds degrees in economics and civil engineering from UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Charlotte, respectively.
