Applications are being accepted for VCU Globe, the university’s newest living-learning community, which prepares Virginia Commonwealth University students to live and work in a 21st-century global environment.
The program’s inaugural class will include 150 sophomores from a variety of majors. Applications are now being accepted to the program and students who will be sophomores in the 2013-2014 academic year are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is Monday, Nov. 26.
VCU Globe aims to expand students’ knowledge and impact as a global citizen through the connection of course work, co-curricular activities and a vibrant residential experience.
VCU Globe will consist of three distinct components: living, learning and engagement. International and domestic students from a variety of majors will share apartments in the new West Grace North residential community currently being built on West Grace Street, across from the West Grace South community that serves VCU Aspire.
Students accepted into the program will take an orientation course in spring 2013 and will ultimately take 12 credits of specialized globally-themed course work. Upon completion of the program as seniors, students will receive a global education certificate.
VCU Globe students also will experience cultural activities and unique opportunities to engage in at least 40 hours of service with and for members of other cultures on campus and in the local and international communities.
