Dear Colleagues:
After an extensive national search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Charles J. (Chuck) Klink, Ph.D. as vice provost for student affairs, effective September 1, 2016. Dr. Klink has served as interim vice provost for student affairs since February 2015.
Dr. Klink has been an integral part of the leadership team in the Division of Student Affairs since August 2001 when he was appointed director of University Counseling Services. Prior to his current role he served as assistant and associate vice provost for student affairs, supervising the areas of university counseling services, recreational sports, disability support services, student media, student conduct and academic integrity, and career services. Before joining VCU he served The Ohio State University for nearly 20 years in various student affairs and counseling positions.
Dr. Klink received both a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.A. in counseling and guidance from The Ohio State University. He holds a B.A. in elementary education from Goshen College.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the search committee members for their dedication to the screening process and to the committee chair, Dr. Kathy Bassard, senior vice provost for faculty affairs, for her valuable leadership in this process.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Klink for his outstanding service to the university and in congratulating him on this well-deserved appointment.
Best regards,
Gail Hackett, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
