Brandcenter grand opening

The VCU Brandcenter, one of the leading graduate programs in the country, celebrated its grand opening March 6 at its new home in the historic Belting Building on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus Addition. Students, alumni, Richmond business leaders and national advertising executives took part in the festivities, which included a performance by the Neville Brothers.

At a March 2008 event celebrating the Brandcenter's new home on South Jefferson Street, Brandcenter director Rick Boyko said the facility had been a dream of his since his arrival five years before. He congratulated the faculty, staff and students for “building and sustaining the No. 1 graduate advertising program in the country.”

Michael Roth, chairman of Interpublic Group and lead donor to the VCU Brandcenter campaign, told the crowd that the Brandcenter is addressing that the issues that advertising industry is facing with “passion and talent.” He added that the Brandcenter “represents the diversity and inclusion necessary for the industry to embrace.”
