Campus Getting Greener, One Tree at a Time

Virginia Commonwealth University celebrated its first Arbor Day by planting a tree on the Monroe Park Campus. The VCU Office of Sustainability and the student organization Green Unity 4 VCU sponsored the tree-planting event, which took place April 29 on the southeast lawn of Harris Hall near Main and Linden streets. The event also featured discussions on proper planting techniques, urban forestry, tree ecology, sustainability and the history of Arbor Day.
