RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 20, 2005) -- Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center for Psychological Services and Development is moving to 612-620 Lombardy St. on Jan. 3, 2006. The relocation expands the center’s space from 4,000 to 10,000 square feet and increases the number of treatment offices from eight to 15.
The Center for Psychological Services and Development offers the community and VCU employees treatment for anxiety, as well as career counseling, child and adolescent therapy, family counseling, and professional training conferences. The center is staffed by advanced doctoral students in counseling and clinical training who are supervised by psychologists in VCU's Department of Psychology.
“Now VCU has a community-based mental health clinic for all VCU employees and the surrounding community,” said CPSD director Sonia R. Banks, Ph.D.
The Center for Psychological Services and Development offers services on a sliding-fee scale, based on a client’s income, and has a financial hardship assistance program.
“Our move is part of the larger VCU mission to link the campus and the community,” Banks said. “It’s exciting to be in a place where people can see where we are and know where we’re going.”
The center’s telephone number remains the same at (804) 828-8069.
