The East Marshall Street Well Planning Committee will hold its next meeting at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The planning committee will meet on Tuesday, April 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in room 2119 at Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave, Richmond. The public is invited to attend.

The planning committee, consisting of community and university members, was established in 2013 to select an appropriate decision-making body to help determine what happens to human remains found in a 19th-century well uncovered during the 1994 construction of the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building on VCU’s medical campus. Visit East Marshall Street Well Project for more information about the effort.

Committee members will discuss a series of upcoming community consultations as part of the continued study, memorialization and reburial of the remains.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to make comments at the end of the planning committee meeting but time may be limited. Speakers will be asked to keep comments to two minutes. Those interested in speaking at the meeting should contact Stephen Davenport at davenportse3@vcu.edu.
