The East Marshall Street Well Planning Committee will hold its next meeting at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The planning committee will meet on Tuesday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 1100 at the Academic Learning Commons, 1000 Floyd Ave., Richmond. The public is invited to attend.
The planning committee, consisting of community and university members, was established in 2013 to select an appropriate decision-making body to help determine what happens to human remains found in a 19th-century well uncovered during the 1994 construction of the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building on VCU’s medical campus. Visit East Marshall Street Well Project for more information about the effort.
Planning committee members will receive an update on the project’s timeline and the results of the selection process to determine members of the Family Representative Council.
There will be an opportunity for members of the public to make comments at the end of the planning committee meeting but time may be limited. Speakers will be asked to keep comments to two minutes. Those interested in speaking at the meeting should contact Stephen Davenport at davenportse3@vcu.edu.
