Hannah Parsons, junior, Department of Radiation Sciences, School of Allied Health
Parsons is one of two students from Virginia selected to attend the American Society of Radiologic Technologists’ (ASRT) Student Leadership Development Program.
"I am very honored to have been chosen,” Parsons said. “I am excited to represent both Virginia Commonwealth University and the state of Virginia at this conference. I look forward to gaining immense knowledge about my intended profession as well as networking with current affiliates and working professionals.”
Parsons will travel to Orlando, Fla., to attend the 2014 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates meeting in June. She and other participants will receive airfare, housing, meals, registration to the educational program designed just for students and a professional mentor. All participants will gain an insider’s look into the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
"I am thrilled that one of our own was chosen among Virginia radiation sciences students,” said Jeffery Legg, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Sciences. “This honor speaks to the quality of commitment of VCU Radiation Sciences students. The ASRT's Student Leadership Development program will provide Hannah with an excellent program, and the profession will benefit by engaging the next generation of leaders."
ASRT works to advance the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession while enhancing the quality of patient care and strives to be the leading professional association for the medical imaging and radiation therapy community through education, advocacy and research.
