Mechanical Engineering faculty members appointed Qimonda professors

Amy Throckmorton, Ph.D., and Hooman Tafreshi, Ph.D., both assistant professors in the VCU School of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, were appointed Qimonda Assistant Professors at an investiture ceremony on Nov. 20. VCU President Michael Rao, Ph.D., and VCU Engineering Dean Russell Jamison, Ph.D., attended the ceremony. The Qimonda Professorships were established in 2007 through the generosity of Qimonda to recognize the accomplishments and promise of junior faculty members at the VCU School of Engineering. Previous recipients include P. Worth Longest, Jr., Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Raj Rao, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Chemical and Life Science Engineering.
