More than two dozen Virginia Commonwealth University students and Physical Plant staff members participated in a “Bayscaping” project outside of the Trani Life Sciences Building. On April 17, volunteers began planting 650 shrubs, flowers and bushes that are native to Virginia. They plan to finish the job on May 1. The native plants don’t require as much care and provide a natural system for managing storm water runoff. The effort was coordinated by Green Unity 4 VCU, a student environmental group.
