Northrop Grumman Newport News recently donated $1,250 to Virginia Commonwealth University's Career Center to assist with job recruitment.
George Whitted, human resources administrator for Northrop Grumman Newport News, presented the VCU Career Center with the gift, which is one of several donations the company has given the Career Center.
"We greatly appreciate every donation because these gifts help us do more each year for students,” said Sue Story, director of the VCU Career Center. “The career fairs and large events can serve more people at one time due to these gifts from Northrop Grumman.”
The company established a relationship with VCU to help find qualified students, particularly from VCU’s School of Engineering, for positions in the company.
"We hire many VCU engineering students for full-time positions, internships and cooperative programs each year," said Whitted.
The VCU Career Center provides free services to students and recent alumni, like help in selecting a major, resume planning, interview strategies and locating internship and co-op opportunities. For more information about the VCU Career Center, visit http://www.students.vcu.edu/careers/.
