Quilt Dedicated to VCU Nurse
Wanda Miller, D.N.P., R.N., director of nursing, VCU Pauley Heart Center, presented the quilt “Walk The Blocks for Hearts” during a ceremony at the VCU Medical Center. The quilt was designed and crafted for Laura Savage, R.N., a VCU nurse clinician, by her former patient Kathy Allen of Colonial Beach.
The quilt was made from T-Shirts previously worn by Savage in past American Heart Association Walks and is displayed on Main Hospital’s 10th floor. It also serves as the design of the association’s T-shirt logo that will be used in this year’s walk.
Savage has been the coordinator of the Start! Richmond Heart Walk for the past 15 years. The walk is designed to raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke. This year’s heart walk will take place Oct. 23 at the SnagAJob.com pavilion in Innsbrook.
