The School of Business’ Real Estate & Land Development Program held its first Circle of Excellence Meeting of the year on Feb. 21 at Willow Oaks Country Club.

Marc Louargand, Ph.D., managing director and chief investment strategist at Harford, Conn.-based Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, addressed the group on topics ranging from the national and regional economy relative to real estate, the supply-and-demand forecast and institutional capital flows and preferences.

Louargand, formerly a faculty member in MIT’s Center for Real Estate, co-founded Cornerstone, a registered investment advisor with nearly $8 billion in public and private real estate investments.

VCU’s Real Estate Circle of Excellence is made up of real estate and mortgage lending executives who advise on the quality and relevance of the school’s real estate program and offer student internships and scholarships, bringing practical real world experience to the program.
