Safety Issues Follow-up

To the University and Health System Communities,

This is a follow-up to my message earlier today about the robbery-related incidents last evening at VCU. My senior leadership team and I met with Richmond City officials this afternoon, and I also met separately with Mayor Jones. Both meetings resulted in a strengthened commitment from the city to deploy additional resources to help address safety issues around our campus. A strong partnership between VCU and the city will enhance an already excellent working relationship with the Richmond Police Department to improve the safety and security of the VCU community. VCU Police Chief John Venuti is working with Richmond Police to develop a plan and strategy for this increased deployment.
