VCU and National Kidney Foundation To Present Outreach Program On Renal Health

Virginia Commonwealth University has teamed up with the National Kidney Foundation to educate Richmond city high school students about renal health.

The two-day event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 17 and Thursday Jan. 18 at GeorgeWytheHigh School, 4314 Crutchfield St., Richmond.

The event will feature a panel of representatives from the VCU Medical Center's acute hemodialysis unit, the Department of Internal Medicine's Division of Nephrology, the Department of Surgery's transplant program as well as the National Kidney Foundation.

Panelists will discuss hypertension, anatomy and physiology of the kidney, nutrition, transplant and organ donation and diabetes mellitus.
