VCU Announces Nancy Everett as Fall Commencement Speaker

Virginia Commonwealth University has announced that alumna Nancy C. Everett, chairman and CEO of General Motors Asset Management Corp. and its U.S. subsidiaries, will be the commencement speaker at VCU's 2006 fall graduation exercises on Dec. 9.

Everett, who received a bachelor's degree in accounting from VCU in 1978, is responsible for more than $160 billion of assets held by GM and third-party clients. She joined GMAM as chief investment officer in June 2005, became president and CEO in January and assumed the duties of chairman and CEO in April.

Everett previously served as the chief investment officer for the Virginia Retirement System, overseeing the investment of its $42 billion pension fund. Everett is a founding trustee of the School of Business Foundation at VCU and a member of the board of directors of the VCU Foundation.

The commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad Street.
