VCU Engineering School to host catapult contest Feb. 22

WHAT: War machines designed like the ones to destroy enemy fortresses in Europe and Asia during the Middle Ages will be used by students to compete for points in the VCU School of Engineering’s 1st annual Catapult Contest.

The event is sponsored by the VCU student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Five teams of four competitors will launch tennis balls at "kiddy pool" targets using catapults they designed and built themselves.

The contest, which is open to all VCU students and the general public, is designed to give students an opportunity to use their design skills and creativity in a fun and competitive environment.
