VCU Head Start to hold pre-registration

• April 13: Sacred Heart Center, 1400 Perry St.
• April 20: Fifth Street Baptist Church, 2800 3rd Ave.
• April 27: Richmond Public Library, 101 E. Franklin St. (Please note that this date is tentative. Contact VCU’s Head Start office for a confirmation at 828-8200.)
Additionally, pre-registration will be offered from 2-5p.m. on March 27 at the Oak Grove Child Care Center, 1606 E. 18th St.
Following the above mentioned dates, registration is offered year-round on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. at the VCU Head Start office, 327 W. Main St., second floor, parking lot entrance.
Children must be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 30 and live in the City of Richmond.
Parents must bring proof of income (such as pay stubs, public-assistance (TANF) statements, Individual Income Tax Form 1040, W-2 forms, signed letter from employer, child support statement or SSI statement) and proof of residency (utility bill, rent receipt or lease agreement) to pre-registration. Parents also are required to have a copy of the child’s birth certificate, the child’s Social Security card and state physical examination with immunization record dated after September 1999.
VCU Head Start provides comprehensive developmental services for low-income preschool children and support services for their families. Ten percent of children accepted must have diagnosed developmental delays or disabilities. VCU Head Start is a federally funded program sponsored by the university’s School of Social Work and is a delegate program of the Richmond Public Schools.
