VCU Idol finals to be held Feb. 21

Virginia Commonwealth University will hold the final round of the singing competition VCU Idol, Saturday Feb. 21 during VCU’s last men’s basketball game of the season against Old Dominion University.
Sponsored by VCU Athletics, VCU Idol is based on the popular Fox reality TV series, American Idol.
Contestants have competed throughout the season during half time of selected
men’s basketball games. The winners from each of the two semi-finals
rounds will advance to this Saturday’s grand finale to compete for
the title of VCU Idol.
The VCU Idol grand prizewinner will receive $2,000, 10 hours of recording
studio time, a beauty makeover and a professional model portfolio. The
grand-prize winner’s university sponsor also will receive $1,000.
The runner-up for VCU Idol will receive $1,000 and their university sponsor
will receive $500.
The game will begin at 7 p.m., and will be held at VCU’s Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St.
