Virginia Commonwealth University today announced that Russell Jamison, Ph.D., will step down as dean of the VCU School of Engineering to return to the faculty. He will serve as a full professor with joint appointments in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical and Life Science Engineering.
Jamison will serve as dean until an interim dean is appointed, which is expected in early September. A national search for a permanent dean is planned for later in the academic year.
Jamison decided to return to the faculty as a full-time professor with the completion of his five-year contract as dean. Jamison came to VCU in July 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he was professor of bioengineering and materials science and engineering and served as co-director of its Technology and Management Program.
