VCU School of Social Work Maintains Accreditation

Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Social Work has been reaccredited for the next eight years by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation.

The commission’s decision to reaffirm accreditation of the School of Social Work’s baccalaureate and masters programs until June 2019 was based on a multistep accreditation process that involved program self-studies, a site visit and reviews.

Founded in 1952, the Council on Social Work Education is a nonprofit national association representing more than 3,000 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. The Council's Commission on Accreditation is responsible for developing accreditation standards that define competent preparation and ensuring that social work programs meet them.

VCU’s School of Social Work, founded in 1917, ranks 14^th among the nation’s top social work programs, according to “U.S. News & World Report.”
