The Virginia Commonwealth University Staff Senate has named the 2007 Pride Ambassadors from the VCU and VCU Health System communities.

The Pride Ambassador program recognizes classified staff members who exhibit pride in the workplace. They are committed to providing professional, responsive and innovative dedication while exuding excellence to all faculty, students, staff, patients and visitors of VCU and the VCU Health System.

This year’s recipients are Joyce Pearson of the VCU Health System Family Care Services and Pamela O. Haney of VCU’s Office of International Education. Both were recognized by VCU Staff Senate President Dawn Mooney and VCU President Eugene P. Trani during a ceremony that also honored all Pride Ambassador nominees.

“These ambassadors are staff members who are in continuous contact with every inch of both campuses helping to make VCU and the VCU Health System a better working environment,” said Mooney. “Throughout this room, you are surrounded by the best of the best – those who are truly pride
ambassadors for VCU.”

Last year, the VCU Staff Senate launched the Pride Ambassador Campaign and kicked it off by selecting and recognizing five representatives from the facilities management departments on each campus. This year, the Staff Senate implemented a nomination process for the pride campaign and received a total of 18 nominations.

“We have a lot to be proud of, but what we need is a staff that shares that pride and exudes it to our fellow students, colleagues and patients,” said Trani. “Thank you for your commitment to VCU. I look forward to greater successes in the years ahead.”

Both Pearson’s and Haney’s names have been added to a plaque that will hang in the VCU Meeting Center.
