The Virginia Commonwealth University Staff Senate has named the 2010 Pride Ambassadors from the VCU and VCU Health System communities.

This year’s recipients are Pamela Vaughan, special events coordinator for the School of Medicine, and Paul R. Walker, manager of parking and transportation services.

Vaughan, Walker and the 2010 nominees were recognized at a ceremony by Jose Alcaine, president of the VCU Staff Senate; John Bennett, senior vice president of finance and administration; and Lori Floyd-Miller, VCU Staff Senate activities and events chair.

The VCU Staff Senate established the Pride Ambassador award in 2006 to recognize outstanding staff members who are committed to providing professional, responsive and innovative service and dedication while exuding excellence toward faculty, students, staff, patients and visitors of VCU and the VCU Health System.

The 2010 nominees and their departments or schools include:

·    Konjit Chitty, Office of Human Resources
·    Lanette M. Jones, Graduation Office
·    Thelma A. Mack, Tompkins-McCaw Library
·    Virginia Schmitz, Department of English
·    Pamela Vaughan, School of Medicine
·    Paul R. Walker, Department of Business Services

“This university could not function as well as it does without you all,” Floyd-Miller told the nominees.

Vaughan and Walker will have their names appear on a plaque along with past Pride Ambassador honorees at the VCU Meeting Center.
