Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of Psychology is hosting a diverse group of psychology professionals, parenting experts and Virginia policy-makers for a conference on high-risk and high-prevalence problems in parenting.

"Parenting: Psychology, Public Health and Public Policy" will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, from 8 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the University Student Commons Theater at 907 Floyd Ave.  The conference is for psychology professionals and students and registration was required.

Speakers will offer training about state-of-the-art interventions for children and families living in high conflict/low-resource environments. They also will discuss how the science of psychological intervention can be used to shape public health and legislative policy.

The conference is sponsored by VCU's College of Humanities and Sciences Department of Psychology, the Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development and the Virginia Treatment Center for Children.
