VCU to host Reunion Weekend 2000

RICHMOND, Va. — More than 2,000 Virginia Commonwealth University alumni from coast to coast will reunite with college classmates and faculty at VCU’s Reunion Weekend 2000. This year’s event will be held on two separate weekends with graduates of VCU’s Medical College of Virginia Campus celebrating on April 28-30 and graduates from the African American Alumni Council and Richmond Professional Institute celebrating on May 5-7.

All alumni will have the opportunity to attend the Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition at VCU’s Anderson Gallery, 907 ½ Franklin St., take a bus tour of VCU’s campuses and work out in the new Stuart C. Siegel Center recreational facility.

The reunion also will feature:

    • A family picnic and dance for alumni of the African American Alumni Council.
    • A reception honoring Quincy Moore, Ph.D., executive director of VCU’s Academic Success Center, who has been instrumental in helping minority students at VCU achieve academic success on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    • The Golden Circle 50 Year Alumni Club induction ceremony for RPI graduates of the class of 1950.
    • "Same Drugs, Resistant Bugs…Where Do We Go From Here?" a dentistry and dental hygiene continuing education program providing a review of the use and prescription of antibiotics and the increase in resistance to these drugs.
    • "Medical School Today," a conversation with students and administrators from VCU’s MCV Campus.
    • The MCV Alumni Association salute to the classes of 1950 and prior.
    • Receptions for VCU’s schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.
