VCU TV/HD student producers take us behind the Richmond and VCU music, theater and film scenes in three original programs set to air Monday, Dec. 18.

The half-hour programs, produced in cinéma vérité style, will be broadcast on WCVW — TV Channel 57 and cable Channel 24.  The lineup includes:

9 p.m. – Theatre VCU Presents: Medea — Bringing Medea to Life. This is the second in a behind-the-scenes series on the modern remake of the Greek tragedy presented by Theatre VCU. Deaf actress Mary Vreeland leads the cast with visiting director Heather Davies from England.

9:30 p.m. – Cinemaphiles.  VCU Film student Steven Harris tries to find his niche in the filmmaking world while he and others, including VCU Film faculty, discuss the progression of film studies from high school to graduate school.

10 p.m. – Amped!  Local indie rock stars who have known the Richmond and VCU music scenes and each other all their lives come together to form “The Sort.”

VCU-TV/HD is a student-run television production at Virginia Commonwealth University. Thanks to a partnership with Community Idea Stations, owned by Commonwealth Public Broadcasting, the VCU-TV/HD programs air two Mondays a month, through March 19.
